For all the painters, sketchers, and photographers amongst you, we have scheduled numerous Plein Air events through the summer to help inspire your Art Show submissions! We hope you’ll join us for these creative outings—some held on private properties generously opened just for us—where you can sketch, photograph, paint, or simply take in the landscape.
All works depicting the Great Swamp and its wildlife will be eligible for consideration in the prestigious FrOGS-sponsored Great Swamp Celebration and Art Show on October 17-18, 2026. Further details about the Art Show and the prospectus to enter can be found here.

Below are the upcoming dates scheduled. Both experienced and aspiring artists are warmly invited to join us. Future events will be announced by email and posted here. If wish to receive Plein Air‑related emails from FrOGS, please let us know at info@frogs-ny.org.
Please notify the contact person if you plan to attend. RSVP is required at private sites. If you have any questions about the Plein Air program, please email or message Sharon Nakazato at SharonNakazato@gmail.com (new email) or 845-612-1046.
Monday, September 14, 10 :00 am – 2:00 pm: Akin Library and environs, Pawling. Besides beautiful vistas on top of Quaker Hill, there is much to draw/photograph inside so we are not at the mercy of the weather. Hopefully, we will be seeing the beginnings of some fall color.

Thursday, September 24, Thursday, 9:30 am – closing: Deer Pond Farm Audubon, Pawling. Woods, pond, trails, covered veranda, vistas.

Thursday, October 1, 9:30 am start: Linda Gould’s Farm, Pawling (private)
Close and far-ranging vistas that will be beautiful as the autumn colors come in. Also tours of the rescued tortoises’ quarters. While this date is after the deadline for the 2026 show, paintings or photos of the landscape and fall colors could be eligible for next year’s show. Note: Domestic and imported animals may appear incidentally within the landscape but not as the primary subject in order to be considered for the Art Show.
